Book Journey: Above Average

EtherealJinxed | Above Average by Amitabha Bagchi

Above Average by Amitabha Bagchi is not just another run-of-the-mill tale of an IITian. The tone and tempo of the book will keep you engaged and you will meet in the book’s various characters the various kinds of people you interact on day to day basis. The flow and constant switch between present and several flashbacks keeps your mind addicted, similar to the way a human mind functions.

The book keeps a good mix of content for those who favour light reading and those in favour of little serious stuff. At innumerable places, the dialogues and scenes are cut crisp to the point. People psyches analyzed. Of how an innocent comment can mar the friendship between two people. Of how your friends help you grow up and get a direction in life. Of how love is just a picture of how you imagine other person in your dreams.

All in all, it’s a book on the inside story of IIT and friendship, in general. Not top-class but definitely an above average book. A prospective movie story? Definitely!

Score: 7/10
